Zenit announced the decision to part ways with Vasily Karasev, who started his coaching career with the club as an assistant back in 2010 and since 2012 he remained as the head coach.
The team announced Saturday that Joan Plaza will replace Karasev in the head coach position.
The 54 years old former coach of Real Madrid, Zalgiris Kaunas and Unicaja Malaga has won the EuroCup title in 2017 and also back in 2007 with Real Madrid.
He spent most of the summer in the States after parting ways with Unicaja and he talked about his trip to Eurohoops.
It has to be noted that the star of Zenit is the son of the former coach, Sergey Karasev.
