With four seconds remaining in the EuroCup Top 16 Round 4 game between Crvena Zvezda and Valencia and the score 81 – 80, Sam Van Rossom took it on him to make the play for the Spanish team.

Van Rossom drove to the basket and dropped a tough layup that won the game 81 – 82 for Valencia and got them a ticket to the quarterfinals.

Stratos Perperoglou, the game’s top scorer with 26 points, lost the ball to Joan Sastre on the other end and thus Red Star lost the chance for a potential game-winner. The Serbian team is now 1-3.

Valencia’s Bojan Dubljevic had a game-high 29 PIR after finishing with 24 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Will Thomas added 11 points and six rebounds.

In the other Group G game held Wednesday (23/1), Unicaja Malaga eliminated Limoges by taking a 78 – 77 win on the road.

Limoges was up 73 – 72 with a minute remaining but Brian Roberts scored consecutive points for Malaga to put his team up and then keep them there. Roberts finished with 20 points and five rebounds while Mathias Lessort had 14 points and eight boards.

For Limoges, Jeremy Boutsiele had 20 points and five rebounds.
