Valencia got its engines rolling after the break.

Matt Thomas scored 13 out of his 15 points in the second half to propel Valencia towards a 75 – 64 win over Rytas Vilnius and the 1-0 in the EuroCup Quarterfinals best-of-three series.

Valencia‘s victory came easier than what the final score shows since the “Taronja” went up by 21 points, 73 – 52, three minutes before the end of the match. Rytas was ahead 26- 30 at halftime, despite the injury of Chris Kramer early the match, but Valencia took over in the third period to assume a lead and then proceeded to dominate in the fourth quarter.

Fernando San Emeterio, Aaron Doornekamp, and Alberto Abalde added 10 points apiece for Valencia. DJ Seeley scored 11, Artsiom Parakhouski had 10 (eight in the first half) points plus five rebounds and Mindaugas Girdziunas 10 for Rytas.

Game 2 takes place in Vilnius.
