Promitheas Patras triumphed against one of the favorites to win the EuroCup title.

Promitheas Patras forced Virtus Bologna to the first loss of the season after three wins in EuroCup and five in an equal number of matches in the Italian League.

The EuroCup newcomer got a 78 – 69 victory over one of the competition’s title contenders to improve its Group A record to 3-1. Same as Bologna.

Five players scored in double figures for Promitheas. Langston Hall posted 16 points plus six assists, Dimitris Agravanis had 12 points and five boards, Oleksandr Lypovyy 11 points, five rebounds, and four steals, Leonidas Kaselakis 11 points and five assists while Chris Babb finished with 11 points as well.

“The Virtus team is like a EuroLeague team with a coach who was in the EuroLeague. A lot of their players were in the NBA or EuroLeague. And this victory gives our team more confidence,” Promitheas coach Makis Giatras said after the game.

For Virtus, Milos Teodosic notched 17 points (1/8 triples) and Vince Hunter 14 points and nine rebounds. The Italian side completely outrebounded its opponents 49 – 29 but shot the ball poorly from the perimeter, finishing with 4/29 on 3-pointers.

Meanwhile, in Israel, Morabanc Andorra downed Maccabi Rishon Lezion 67 – 86. David Jelinek (15 points), Clevin Hannah (13 points, nine assists) and Frantz Massenat (13 points) stood out from the winning side that is now 2-2.

Alex Hamilton (22 points) and Daryl Monroe (16 points, seven rebounds) were the best Maccabi had to offer. The team’s record is now 1-3.
