Milos Teodosic was named 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season MVP, Euroleague Basketball announced on Monday. He led Segafredo Virtus Bologna in scoring, assists and PIR powering the Italian club to first place in Group A.

Per EuroCup: “Euroleague Basketball is pleased to announce that Milos Teodosic of Segafredo Virtus Bologna has been chosen as the MVP of the 2019-20 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season. Teodosic has dominated despite coming off his team’s bench, leading Virtus to first place in Group A and a share of the best regular-season record in the competition at 8-2. The legendary point guard led his team in scoring, assists and performance index ranking. He ranked second in the entire competition in points per 40 minutes (26.8). Teodosic is the third winner of the mid-season award, which was introduced before the 2017-18 season. Scottie Wilbekin of Darussafaka Istanbul was the first winner and Pierria Henry of UNICS Kazan captured it last season.

In his first EuroCup season since 2007, Teodosic returned to the competition as one of the most creatives playmakers in the world. His outstanding basketball IQ and vast experience have played critical roles for Virtus. Teodosic is playing the perfect environment to make the most of that creativity. Between head coach in Sasa Djordjevic, who knows him well, and another playmaker in Stefan Markovic, who has been his teammate for many summers, Teodosic was able to find his comfort zone in Bologna almost immediately. The result has been 16.9 points and 5.6 assists over nine games, while shooting the ball with excellent efficiency; he’s made 63.6% of his two-point shots, 40.6% of his threes and 89.7% of free throws. To put those numbers in perspective, Teodosic ranked second among guards in two-point shooting and only one player has made more threes with better accuracy than Teodosic’s 28.

Teodosic has also provided many highlights during the regular season, none bigger than his game-winning, buzzer-beating jumper at home against AS Monaco in Round 5. He finished that game with 24 points and 7 assists. Teodosic tallied 15 points and 8 assists against ratiopharm Ulm, 18 points and 6 assists against Maccabi Rishon LeZion and put up 19 points in less than 15 minutes against MoraBanc Andorra. Teodosic finished the regular season in style, scoring a EuroCup career-high with 25 points against Monaco in a come-from-behind win in Round 10.

This is the third EuroCup campaign for Teodosic, who became a EuroLeague superstar over the last decade. He went to eight EuroLeague Final Fours with CSKA Moscow and won the crown in 2016. Teodosic was chosen as the EuroLeague MVP in 2010 while playing for Olympiacos Piraeus and has been named to the All-EuroLeague team six times. The EuroCup Regular Season MVP award comes at age 31 and, fortunately for Virtus fans, it looks like Teodosic is only getting started.”
