Tofas Bursa beat Unics Kazan 84 – 82 at home in the first game of the EuroCup Top 16. Berk Ugurlu scored the go-ahead basket for the winning squad with a layup that made it 83 – 82 with 23 seconds remaining.
Malaga, that had come back from an 11-point deficit in the fourth period, missed the chance to retake the lead following a turnover by Alberto Diaz. On the other end, Devin Williams hit 1/2 from the line to “register” the final score.
Ugurlu finished with 11 points while Tarik Phillips dropped 17 points. Williams had 15 points and Matt Lojeski 13 points and five rebounds for Tofas.
From Malaga, Deon Thompson posted 20 points and seven rebounds while scoring the bucket that made it 81 – 82 in the final minute and capped the comeback from down 79 – 68. Melvin Ejim scored 16 points.
