Barcelona coach Svetislav Pesic wasn’t exactly happy with some aspects of his players’ performance in the EuroLeague game against Crvena Zvezda despite the win of his team.
“We started really well, with concentration, making good decisions on offense and being aggressive. After the first quarter, we led by 10 points, 29-19, and like in some games before, at the moment that we were playing excellent, then we started to find Magic Johnson passes, assists, and we made 5 turnovers in 4 minutes. We gave Zvezda the chance to come back in the game,” Pesic said in the post-game presser.
Red Star came back from a 12-point deficit to lead 41 – 42 at halftime. After Barcelona regained the advantage in the third period, the Serbian team once again pushed to go ahead 60 – 66 at the end of the third. The Blaugrana took the victory by improving their defense and making some big shots down the stretch.
“One more time, we showed that it is very dangerous to underestimate a player or a team,” Pesic added. “In the EuroLeague, all the teams are at a high level. They are ready to fight, especially against us here in Palau. This is what we should learn. This is the big assignment for us to take the next step. On the positive side, we had a good reaction. We gave Zvezda the chance and Zvezda took this chance. They played excellent basketball and moved the ball.”
