Zenit and Joan Plaza agreed on terms for the early termination of their contract, the Russian team announced on Wednesday. Xavi Pascual is reportedly the favorite to take over.

Plaza, 56, assumed his responsibilities in 2018 following a five-year stint with Unicaja Malaga. This season guided the Saint-Petersburg outlet to seven wins in 24 EuroLeague matches and to a 6-10 VTB United League record.

Previous accomplishments include 7DAYS EuroCup titles with Real Madrid in 2007 and Unicaja in 2017. Also worked in Lithuania for Zalgiris Kaunas and was with Cajasol Sevilla between 2009 and 2012.
