Washington Wizards forward Davis Bertans admits that he doesn’t have much time to follow the action EuroLeague since he spends his precious free time with his family. But when he does, there’s one team he watches and for a very specific reason.
“If I get a chance to catch my brother’s (Dairis Bertans) games with Khimki (Moscow) then I do. My prediction is.. he’s on that team so they’re gonna win it,” Bertans said. Dairis Bertans’ Davis’ older brother, joined Khimki last summer following a brief stint with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Bertans played in EuroLeague with Partizan Belgrade and Baskonia before signing with the San Antonio Spurs in 2016. Now, he participated in the All-Star Game’s 3-point contest for the first time in his career.
“The All-Star game is one of the biggest events in sports overall. Just being part of an event here is an accomplishment,” Bertans said. “We’ve had only (Kristaps) Porzingis winning the skills challenge. I hope in a few years we [Latvians] that we’ll have somebody super athletic that will go and compete in the dunk contest and maybe win. That’ll be fun.”
