Euroleague Basketball warned on the possibility of removing its games from Greece if another incident similar to the attack against the referees of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 25 between Panathinaikos OPAP and FC Barcelona occurs in the future. Retired player, Panagiotis Fasoulas, commented on Sunday’s announcement via Greek TV channel, MEGA.

“Greece should handle the announcement politically, not only at the sports level,” he underlined, “I mention this for every single team. If EuroLeague considers us a dangerous country, it is a political issue.”

After retiring back in 1999 with EuroLeague and EuroBasket championships among his accolades, Fasoulas evolved into a basketball executive. Launched a political career as well and was elected Member of the Hellenic Parliament in 2000 and Mayor of Pireas in 2006.
