Greek Health Protection Committee advises Olympiacos to not travel to Milan

Olympiacos doesn’t want to risk a trip to Milan.

The Greek National Health Protection Committee informed Olympiacos that they need to suspend the trip to Milan for the EuroLeague game against Olimpia Milano scheduled for Thursday, March 12.

Olympiacos has informed EuroLeague Basketball of the Committee’s advisory. The Reds had asked EuroLeague to reconsider the organization’s decision to decline their request to either postpone or relocate the game against the Italian team.

Milan and the area of Lombardy in northern Italy have been in the center of the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The Italian government has taken extra measures in order to fight the virus and ordered a lockdown to be extended in the entire country. As of Tuesday night, the virus has claimed 463 lives while 9,172 people have been infected in Italy.
