Luka Mitrovic discussed the reported plan of holding the remainder of the 2019-20 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season in a single city within a few weeks with Nova.rs. The BAXI Manresa player claimed that many players think that it would be disastrous for them and used the term “basketball suicide” describing his take.

“It is getting clear that games can be scheduled for July and August, but judging from the players’ direct point of view there is no logic whatsoever,” he noted, “We will be two or three months without practice, in isolation like all people. Maybe more. And some will play to or three games a week in just over one month. It’s basketball suicide. It’s not just my opinion, many players believe the same.”

Mitrovic furthered pointing out potential issues for domestic leagues. “If all teams are in one city, they will not be able to compete in their domestic leagues,” he added, “These are not teams sitting in the middle of the table but among the leaders. Do you see this a positive?”.

Players suffering injuries due to returning to action in such a rush after a long hiatus was the point he discussed with AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan’s Nemanja Nedovic in a Twitter conversation between the Serbian internationals.
