Barcelona has had its “In My Own Words” column going during the coronavirus outbreak as well and it was Victor Claver’s turn to share.

The 31-year-old Spanish forward sent messages of support while also revealing his passion for drawing and cooking, and how he incorporated those in his daily routine together with practice.

Here is the full letter:

Good morning, culers! From the very beginning I liked the idea of writing a letter for you. It’s not an interview, it’s not a video, it’s a text that I’ve written myself and in it I will decide what to tell you. Not everything will be about my family – with whom I’ve shared more video calls than ever! Nor basketball and training to keep in shape.

I will start with my daily routine. I consider it very important, despite being at home, to be organised and have an agenda. Early in the morning, after breakfast, I like to answer my outstanding emails and after completing those tasks I get ready to work out. We have a plan that we should try to follow and, if it is a nice day, I will try to do the exercises on the terrace. The truth is that it gives me a lot of energy and purpose and I didn’t value it so much before.

But I want to tell you some more about the less common things because we always have time to talk about basketball. Firstly, my drawing. Yes, I really like digital drawing and I did a course on it. It’s been one of my passions for some while, and now I have the ability to spend some time on it.

At first, I did computer drawing, and now I do so with my iPad and Apple Pencil, which I bought recently, but I want to learn more. After the course I did, I now have two more in the coming weeks: one on anatomy and body proportions and one on comic books, which I’ve always liked. I want to improve the way I draw, particularly with regard to bodies, in order to give them dynamism. It really motivates me to give colour to the drawings too, as well as light and shade.

Another novelty for me: the Marvel Universe. I am taking advantage to see, in chronological order, all the films, and the truth is that I was a little lost before, but now I understand them much better.

The kitchen. I’ve taken the time to get back in there. During the season I can’t spend as much time in it as I would like, but now I’m completing time-consuming recipes, including making some good lentils.

Culers, I really enjoyed writing this letter and hope you enjoy it. I wish you and your family good health. I hope we can meet again at the Palau Blaugrana soon.

I really want to hear you cheering becasue that means we have overcome it all together!
