After three days of talks, there’s clear progress between Obradovic and Fenerbahce but not a deal yet.

After four days in Istanbul, including Monday’s arrival, and three days of constant talks, Zeljko Obradovic and Fenerbahce BEKO are still evaluating all the aspects of the possible extension of their collaboration.

While there’s clear progress made, so far there’s no deal between the two sides.

Obradovic and general manager Maurizio Gherardini met with club president Ali Koc and Fenerbahce vice president Semih Ozsoy on Tuesday and also last night, despite the information about a postponement.

The process is ongoing, the two sides are in constant contact. As Ismael Senol reported the existing contracts of the roster are an obvious issue. Koc clarified on Monday speaking to Fenerbahce TV that a budget reduction is expected, and that’s a key part of the talks.

Obradovic wants to lead a EuroLeague contender and that’s why, if he doesn’t stay with Fenerbahce, he is expected to take a one-year hiatus from coaching, like he did when he left Panathinaikos in 2012.

With Obradovic having scheduled a trip back to Belgrade tomorrow, any prediction for the final outcome of the talks remains risky.
