Just hours after winning the Spanish Liga Endesa championship title, Josean Querejeta confirmed while speaking to Radio Marca that coach Dusko Ivanovic will remain with Baskonia for next season.
“Dusko has changed the trajectory of the team understanding our DNA and philosophy”, Querejeta explained. “We have a deal with him, but we have not yet made it official. He will continue with us ”.
Ivanovic is an established name in European basketball and while he has also coached in Switzerland, in France, Greece, Russia and Turkey, Spain and specially Baskonia seems to be more than the right fit for him.
Under Ivanovic, Baskonia has won three championship titles in Spain (2002, 2010, 2020) and also four Spanish Cups (2002, 2004, 2007, 2009), while playing in the EuroLeague final of 2005. As a player, the 62-years old Ivanovic is a two-time EuroLeague winner with back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990 as a member of Yugoplastica.
