Alba Berlin announced the signing of Italian forward Simone Fontecchio on a three-year deal. He becomes the first Italian player in the history of the “Albatrosses.”

“I longed to play with Alba and of course following on winning the cup and the championship. I really like the game system and I think that my style of play goes well with it. I’m happy about the chance to play in EuroLeague with Alba and I’ll give my 100% to improve myself,” Fontecchio said per Alba.

Fontecchio, 24, last played with Italian Serie A team Reggio Emilia. He averaged 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in the Italian League.

“We are convinced that Simone Fontecchio will fit well with our philosophy and that he will continue to develop in all areas with Alba,” Alba Sports Director Himar Ojeda said.
