Nemanja Nedovic has reached a deal with Panathinaikos to sign a contract with the club for the 2020-2021 season according to Eurohoops sources. The Serbian combo guard was a free agent after completing a two-year stint with Olimpia Milano.

Panathinaikos was Nedovic’s preferred destination during free agency, Eurohoops also learned. The official announcement by Panathinaikos is expected within the following days and it will most likely arrive on Monday (13/6).

Nedovic, 29, averaged 7.9 points, 1.7 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 16:31 minutes over 17 games of the 2019-2020 EuroLeague before the season was shut down in March amid the coronavirus pandemic. Despite an injury-troubled run with the “Red Shoes”, he posted double-digit scoring averages (11.5 points, plus 2.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 23:28 minutes) in his first season with the team.

Milano acquired Nedovic in 2018 after the player completed hist most productive campaign yet by averaging career-highs 16.8 points and 4.8 assists in the 2017-2018 EuroLeague with Unicaja Malaga.

Panathinaikos, under new head coach George Vovoras, has been looking to fortify its backcourt in light of the departure of captain, team leader and top contributor Nick Calathes, plus the fact that  Jimmer Fredette isn’t considered for the new season. Nedovic can cover both guard positions, providing scoring in multiple ways while also initiating offense for others.

Apart from Nedovic, Panathinaikos is also expected to soon announce the addition of guard Marcus Foster after Vovoras confirmed the signing during a recent press conference.
