Zalgiris Kaunas announced on Monday that Zach LeDay used the buy-out clause on his contract to become a free agent. The 26-year-old American forward/center will join AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano, as previously reported by Eurohoops.

The buyout was around 150 thousand euros, reports Donatas Urbonas. The Lithuanian journalist previously noted that Augustine Rubit coming in as a fresh big man for the Zalgiris roster is a done deal.

Per Zalgiris: “Zalgiris big man Zach LeDay will be suiting up for a new team this upcoming season. He is set to leave Kaunas after drawing a lot of interest with a terrific showcase in last year’s EuroLeague campaign. The American has decided to use the buy-out clause in his contract to leave Zalgiris.

The 26-year-old joined Zalgiris from Olympiacos Piraeus last summer, and quickly became one of the team’s go-to weapons.

LeDay averaged 11.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists and an efficiency rating of 13.2 in 22 minutes of action on the floor in the EuroLeague.

He played six minutes less on the national front, but still managed to average 11.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 14.6 efficiency per game.

Zalgiris has already said their goodbyes to Edgaras Ulanovas and the coaching staff: Sarunas Jasikevicius, Darius Maskoliunas, Tomas Masiulis and Justinas Grainys. Meanwhile, the team has signed Tomas Dimsa, Steve Vasturia and Marek Blazevic.”
