Khimki Moscow Region strengthens its 2020-21 squad with Evgeny Voronov.

First summer addition completed for Khimki Moscow Region with Evgeny Voronov penning a one-year deal with an option for an additional season, the Russian club announced on Friday.

“It is very important to me that head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis wanted me to be part of the squad,” he said upon signing per to Khimki’s official site, “Therefore, I did not think twice, quickly resolved all the details, and today I signed the contract.”

Coming off a three-year stint and his role as the captain of Zenit Saint-Petersburg, Voronov is looking into his seventh Turkish Airlines EuroLeague campaign. CSKA Moscow, Lokomotiv Kuban, UNICS Kazan, and Zenit marked his previous runs.

“Khimki is not only among the strongest clubs in Russia but also in Europe,” he added commenting on his fifth Russian EuroLeague side, “I will make my best effort to help the team achieve its high goals.”

Last season, the experienced guard put up 5.9 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per EuroLeague contest, and threw in 6.9 points per VTB United League game. Both competitions ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Khimki previously re-signed Alexey Shved, Devin Booker, Sergey Monia, and Egor Vialtsev. In addition, Jordan Mickey is expected to re-join the Russian outlet after his one-year stint with Real Madrid.
