Bayern Munich and Maodo Lo have officially parted ways after two seasons, the club announced.

Lo noted that he’s loved the time spent in Munich but that moving back to his hometown of Berlin would be the best choice for him now, confirming that way the deal with Alba.

“It was a very difficult decision for me, the time to think it over was really very difficult. Because I felt incredibly comfortable in Munich and in the meantime also built special relationships for life. The city is beautiful and the club like a big family. But above all, I am extremely grateful for the trust that the club and the management have given me over the two years, I don’t take that for granted. Despite all this, I think that the next year in Berlin will make the most sense for me personally. In the midst of this crazy and uncertain time, in combination with some family circumstances for me, it is worth a lot for a Berlin boy like me to be at home,” Lo said.

The 27-year-old guard played for three years with Bayern and this past season, he averaged nine points, 3.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds over 28 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games.

Alba announced the addition of Lo who added: “I chose Berlin because I want to develop further and take the next step. At ALBA I have the best options. Returning to my hometown is of course something special for me. My family and friends are very important to me and having them permanently in my environment is new to my professional career and something that I am really looking forward to. I know the ALBA philosophy from the past few years and I always liked the enthusiasm and the attractiveness of the team.”
