Barcelona announced that 21-year-old forward Sergi Martinez has been promoted to the club’s first team for the 2020-2021 season.
“Debuting in EuroLeague is a challenge, a dream, but if you add that I grew up here with Baca, it would be a dream to debut and defend the colors of Barca in every possible competition, Martinez said per Barcelona. “The personal challenge is to improve as a player and learn a lot from the wisdom of Saras and my teammates.”
Martinez practically grew up with Barcelona since he joined the club 12 years ago, when he was 9. He played in the junior squads and made his debut with Barca B’ at 16 years old in the 2015-2016 season.
Last season, Martinez had his first appearance in the Spanish ACB League team in a game against Gran Canaria.
