CSKA Moscow head coach tested positive for COVID-19 in early August and has recovered since and he returned to Moscow on Monday to join the team’s preparation for next season.

Itoudis recovered and remained quarantined in Greece for a couple of weeks, and as a result, he missed the first two preparation games of the team ahead of the new season.

The Greek coach spoke about contracting and recovering from coronavirus in a recent interview. “[My doctor] came to talk to me and after our preliminary talks – also about my medical history that you always talk about in these cases – she told me: “Mr. Itoudis, things are now changing. The roles are reversed. I am the coach and you are the player here.” Since I’m a disciplined individual – but also because as a coach I ask my players for discipline – I listened to the instructions of my coach as I had to do, we won the fight we gave together. The things she told me were crucial and I’ll remember it forever.”

With Itoudis back on the bench, CSKA now has a busy pre-season schedule, taking part in the Gomelsky Cup as well as the Zenit tournament, and more friendly games in September.
