Two more Khimki Moscow Region players found positive for coronavirus

Khimki Moscow Region announced Friday morning that both Greg Monroe and Maxim Barashkov tested positive for coronavirus prior to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 2 home game opposite to Zalgiris Kaunas scheduled for Friday evening.

Monroe, 30, coming off an injury returned to practice Thursday and was considered probable for his Khimki debut in Europe’s premier club competition. Alongside youngster Barashkov he adds on the issues dealt to head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis.

Following the EuroLeague opening week game versus Panathinaikos OPAP, Janis Timma, Evgeny Voronov, and Jordan Mickey were found positive for coronavirus. Also, newcomer Errick McCollum is still in isolation after traveling to Russia. Key players Alexey Shved and Stefan Jovic are out injured.

The visiting side is no stranger to similar issues, as Joffrey Lauvergne tested positive and was quarantined rather than making the trip from Lithuania to Russia.
