Rokas Jokubaitis positive for coronavirus, remaining Zalgiris players in self-isolation

Zalgiris Kaunas updates team status after returning from France

Rokas Jokubaitis was found positive for coronavirus, Zalgiris Kaunas announced Saturday after receiving the results of the latest COVID-19 tests.

New tests will determine whether the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 7 home game versus Real Madrid will be held as scheduled next Friday. Home LKL games against Neptunas and Pieno Zvaigzdes will be postponed.

Per the press release: “The COVID-19 test for Rokas Jokubaitis came back positive, Zalgiris Kaunas found out on Saturday. The tests for the team were done on Friday after Zalgiris came back from France, where they played EuroLeague Round 6 game against ASVEL Villeurbanne. The results for the rest of the team came back negative.

Jokubaitis didn’t feel well already in France and was immediately separated from the team. He stayed in hotel at the game time, travelled separately to the airport and sat 10 meters apart from the rest of the team during the charter flight. He came back from Vilnius airport to Kaunas separately from the team.

Jokubaitis feels well at the moment and doesn’t have the temperature anymore on Saturday.

The rest of the team remains in self-isolation. They will be additionally tested in upcoming days. The fate of Real Madrid game, set to be played on Friday, will be known after those tests.

In the meantime Lithuanian League games Zalgiris – Neptunas and Zalgiris – Pieno Zvaigzdes, set to be played on Sunday and Tuesday, are being postponed. The new dates for these game will be announced later on.”
