Rounds 9 and 10 of the EuroLeague regular season were defined by Mike James’ performances.

CSKA Moscow guard Mike James won EuroLeague MVP of the double-round week after scoring 27 and 25 points in the road wins of his team over Zalgiris Kaunas and Bayern Munich respectively.

The best single-game performance index rating for a winning team during the two rounds played this week belonged to Mike James of CSKA Moscow, thereby earning him the seventh MVP of the Week honor of his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague career. James had a PIR of 32 to go with the week’s high scoring total of 27 points as CSKA ambushed Zalgiris Kaunas 78-87 in Round 9. He shot almost perfectly in that game, making 3 of 5 two-pointers, 5 of 6 triples and 6 of 6 free throws while adding 5 assists to CSKA’s cause. The top performance in all 16 games played this week came in a losing effort and belonged to Moustapha Fall of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, whose 42 PIR based on 25 points and 10 rebounds went for naught in a last-second 76-75 loss at ALBA Berlin in Round 9. Fall, a EuroLeague rookie, recorded the highest PIR so far this season and the best ever in ASVEL’s 107 games in the competition. Alec Peters of TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and Nikola Mirotic of FC Barcelona came next with PIRs of 31. Peters had his in an 86-68 home win over Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, also in Round 9. He made 10 of 12 field goal attempts for a career-high 25 points in the win. Mirotic had the high performance of Round 10 with his 23 points, including 9-for-10 free throw shooting, in Barca’s 76-65 home win over Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade. Nikola Milutinov of CSKA and Kevin Punter of AX Armani Exchange Milan shared this week’s fifth-best performance with PIRs of 29. Milutinov had 18 points and 12 rebounds while matching his career high with perfect 8-for-8 two-point shooting as CSKA downed host FC Bayern Munich 81-89 in Round 10. In the same round, Kruno Simon of Anadolu Efes Istanbul recorded a 27 PIR based on 24 points and 5 assists as Efes toppled host Khimki Moscow Region 77-105.
