AX Armani Exchange Milan put an end to a two-game slip to defeat Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on the road 79-71 in Round 14 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and improve to an 8-5 record.

The hosts kept in touch with the score for nearly 20 minutes, before Milano went off to lead by 20-point margins in the third period, setting up the foundations for the victory. Despite a stale fourth quarter, the Italian team still safeguarded its lead without allowing Fenerbahce‘s comeback turn the tables of the game, even though Leo Westermann (10 points) went to great extent to put his team back on the map.

“We quit on the game and we are not quitters. I think that we knew that we played against a very good team. We didn’t respond well and as you can tell watching our games, the sense of urgency is there, the approach is there, but we have to play well”, commented Igor Kokoskov after the game.

Zach LeDay found his way through Fener‘s defense to finish the game as the top scorer of the Italian side with 15 points along with 6  rebounds. Kevin Punter tapped 13 points and Gigi Datome followed with 10 points for Ettore Messina’s squad.

Dyshawn Pierre led Igor Kokoskov’s squad with 14 points, while Danilo Barthel and Nando De Colo posted 13 and 12 points respectively.

Next on, the Turkish side will look to bounce back against Zalgiris Kaunas on Thursday and Milano will face Efes with hopes to turn this victory into a streak.
