The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague October MVP and Zalgiris Kaunas sharpshooter, Marius Grigonis is the second guest of the third season of The Crossover with Joe Arlauckas. His lengthy discussion with the host was shared by EuroLeague Monday.

The 26-year-old swingman left Zalgiris earlier in his career to compete in Spain’s second division. He worked his way up to the ACB and a few successful stops later eventually returned to the Lithuanian powerhouse. He walked through his eventful journey.

“I think you never achieve your own expectation because you always expect more. You know, and you always expect that you’re going to be a better player,” he explained, “And if you don’t achieve that, that’s the thing when you get, you know, pretty upset. ‘I wanted more’ or whatever.”

Diving into the 2018-19 season, his first back at Zalgiris, Grigonis remembered the late six-game winning streak powering his team to what seemed at the time an extremely unlikely EuroLeague playoffs berth.

“When we started winning, everybody was like, ‘Hold on. What’s going on?’ When we won in Madrid [to clinch the playoffs], it was one of the best parties,” he mentioned looking back on the miracle run, “It was amazing!”
