Valencia Basket used a strong second half to defeat Zenit St. Petersburg 91-62 on the road in Round 26 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Bojan Dubljevic was the top contributor for the visitors and left the court with 19 points, 5 rebounds. Mike Tobey had 12 points, Nikola Kalinic tapped a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Derrick Williams also had 10 for Jaume Ponsarnau’s squad.

“One of the best performances we’ve had this season. We were solid for 40 minutes. We knew that Zenit is a tough team, a physical team. They have played incredible this season, but we managed to respond to their game and that brought us this result”, said Kalinic after the game.

Valencia took a crucial step forward to improve to a 14-12 record and remains close to the playoffs zone as they took revenge from the Russian side for their Round 4 loss early in the season.

On the other end of the court, Zenit accumulated just 21 points in the entire second half in its worst-scoring game of the season and was paced by Alex Poythress who tapped 12 points in his second game back to action and Billy Baron who had 11 points.

Xavi Pascual’s squad falls to a 15-10 record though remains safe into the playoffs zone so far behind leaders Barcelona, CSKA and Olimpia Milano.
