Simone Fontecchio saved the day for ALBA Berlin that outlasted LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on the road to grab a 95-89 victory in Round 29 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

With less than half a minute remaining, Fontecchio hit a much-needed three for ALBA and a free throw to add up to a total of 19 points in this win for Aito Garcia Reneses’ squad. Peyton Siva paced the Germans with a team-high performance of 21 points and 7 assists and Marcus Eriksson added 14 points, as ALBA moves up to an 11-18 record.

“Everybody made the difference. We came out aggressive in the second half. Everybody made one more step. We stepped up on defense and I think in the end, that was the key. They are a very good team, especially on offense. It was a high-scoring game, but in the end, we found a way to get the win with our defense and good execution on offense”, commented Fontecchio after the game.

Guerschon Yabusele led the efforts of TJ Parker’s squad with 20 points, while Ismael Bako and Norris Cole had 12 points respectively. The French side has now slipped its last three games and falls to a 12-17 record.
