Zenit Saint-Petersburg is considering the addition of Ioannis Papapetrou at the end of his contract with Panathinaikos OPAP, this summer.

Papapetrou, 27, joined the Greens in 2018 and was named captain in 2020. His contract expiring this summer predictably makes him a target for other clubs. The pack features Zenit, coached by Xavi Pascual and also led by team manager Manos Papadopoulos, both former members of Panathinaikos.

The Greek forward would like to extend his run with his current side, but the team based in Saint-Petersburg seriously considering him for the next season and is expected to present him with an offer.

Papapetrou after winning the Greek Cup clarified that he would like to stay in Panathinaikos, however, he will examine every offer on the table after the end of the season.

The Russian outlet seems comfortable potentially fitting him in the 2021-22 season budget. On the other end, the Greek powerhouse is forced to calculated moves in the summer market for the second year in a row.

Papapetrou averaged 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per Turkish Airlines EuroLeague game this season, his eighth in Europe’s premier club competition.
