Recovering and getting cleared to return to action was a difficult and uncertain task for Pau Gasol. The two-time NBA champion after signing with FC Barcelona in February shares his view on the situation guiding him back to his first pro team walking through uncharted territory in a docuseries.

“For almost two years or more, I was preparing myself for the opportunity to return to action. There were moments when my return looked very unlikely,” he confessed in the presentation of the series, according to Spanish national news agency EFE.

“I was fortunate to return to Barcelona. My first team at the professional level offered me a great opportunity. Also, I will be able to once again play for an Olympic medal. We will see what will be required to prepare for the Olympic Games,” he added.

Gasol, 40, confirmed the Olympic Games as an important personal goal but remains determined to assist Barcelona at the best of his abilities. The 2021 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four is just around the corner with his team colliding with AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano in the semifinals at Cologne’s Lanxess Arena this Friday.

“I am solely focused on the Final Four, finishing the season as good as possible,” he pointed out, “After the season, I will think about the next step, which is Tokyo, preparing for my fifth participation in the Olympic Games. This prospect makes me very excited. From there, we will see about the next season and what the future holds.”

The title of the docuseries is pending but is directed by Oriol Bosh (Andres Iniesta: The Unexpected Hero) and produced by PG Productions, RTG Features, and THINK450, the content arm of the NBPA.
