The last star of Russian Basketball returns to the traditional powerhouse of the country

With Khimki Moscow out of the VTB United League and all the players of the current roster practically being free agents, Alexey Shved is set to return to CSKA Moscow, as it was first reported by Russian outlet “Eurostavka“.

Shved, who had a contract with Khimki until 2023, is expected to get a similar deal with the “Army Team” according to sources, where he has played from 2006 to 2012 when he left for the NBA, after reaching the EuroLeague final.

He was also a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Houston Rockets, and the New York Knicks before returning to Khimki Moscow Region with the biggest contract in Europe at the time, back in 2015.

Shved was the top scorer of the Euroleague during last season, averaging 19.8 points per game, has won the EuroLeague back in 2008 having a limited role with CSKA Moscow and also two VTB United League titles with the “Army Team”.

As a member of the Russian national team, he won the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, as well as a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2011. The 32-years old guard is still considered the best Russian player.
