Olympiacos edges AS Monaco in the final of bwin TOURNAMENT AGAINST COVID-19

A back-and-forth affair resulted in Olympiacos securing the friendly win, 98-93, against AS Monaco on Sunday.

The hosts of the bwin TOURNAMENT AGAINST COVID-19 earned first place and the French side settled for second place. Both teams continued preparations for the approaching Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season.

Sasha Vezenkov delivered 24 points, including a clutch bucket, plus six rebounds and four assists as the Reds improved to 4-0 in preseason fixtures. Tyler Dorsey ended up with 20 points. French power forward Livio Jean-Charles added 19 points. Giorgos Printezis and Kostas Papanikolaou were out.

Danilo Andjusic logged a team-high 20 points. Donatas Motiejunas registered 18 points. Paris Lee finished with 13 points and 12 assists to his name. The visitors started hot setting their largest lead at 18-7 during the first quarter. Both sides traded blows from there until Olympiacos got the best of its opponents down the stretch.

Former EuroLeague champion with Olympiacos, David Rivers was in attendance enjoying the exciting contest. His visit was marked by honoring the U18 and U16 teams of the Greek side for recent achievements in respective junior national tournaments. Olympiacos is always in my life,” he mentioned, “I always feel back home. It’s home.” 

The third-place game of the tournament at the Peace and Friendship Stadium saw Lavrio Megabolt edge Peristeri, 88-85. Tyson Carter scored a game-high 25 points, behind 4/6 three-pointers.
