Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv announced Thursday their withdrawal from Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament, hosted by Panathinaikos in Athens, following COVID-19 positives in the team.

This is the third tournament the Israeli side is forced to exit, after six COVID cases last week. Giannis Sfairopoulos’ squad was scheduled to participate at the Bwin Tournament in Piraeus and Neofytos Chandriotis tournament in Cyprus (September 9-12), alongside CSKA, Olympiacos and Zenit, though both trips had to be canceled.

Panathinaikos informed later on Thursday that ratiopharm Ulm will replace Maccabi in the upcoming tournament, which will take place September 18-19 and also features reigning EuroLeague champions Anadolu Efes and Partizan.
