The COVID pandemic is not over yet and unfortunately, Bayern Munich has to take measures after getting positive tests that prevent the team from playing prep games this weekend.

Per the club announcement: The basketball players of FC Bayern canceled their participation in the tournament in Bayreuth (18/19 September) planned for the weekend at short notice. The issue is positive results in coronavirus tests in the team or in the immediate vicinity of the team.

In order to be able to carry out further tests and above all as a preventive measure against the rest of the FCBB delegation and the teams in Bayreuth, the Munich team decided not to leave the Audi Dome on Friday afternoon. They had previously informed the organizers in Bayreuth and the Munich health department.

Bayern would have met the French first division club SIG Strasbourg at the “expert Jakob Cup” on Saturday evening in Bayreuth. The BBL season is planned to start next week (September 26th, 6 p.m.) in the Audi Dome against Ulm.

The FCBB thanks Medi Bayreuth for their understanding and wishes the best for the tournament. The games will be streamed on the BBL Club’s YouTube channel.
