No hard feelings from Mario Hezonja to Panathinaikos fans after he got booed in OAKA in his return with Unics Kazan. A game that resulted in a win of his current team against his beloved Greens.

“I deserved it, of course,” Hezonja said on Nova Sports’ ‘The Playmakers’  show. “Because this is what you get when you show up here with a different jersey. This is why this team is above everything else. ”

Hezonja has been a huge fan favorite for Panathinaikos supporters and many of them expected him to stay with the team in offseason. After a long saga, the Croatian forward moved to Unics Kazan.

“I loved some people and I trusted some people too much and I was disappointed over the summer, so I came here as an enemy,” Hezonja said.

“Ι am not saying anything anymore,” Hezonja added. “I was talking like this a lot before the season ended and I really had my thoughts only on this. I didn’t want to go to the NBA, I said no to every offer in Europe and to NBA. I guess I trusted someone too much, I loved somebody too much and the decision-makers were wrong. You know, what I can tell you more? Hopefully, we will see what happens after this season but I can’t tell you anything more, cause everything goes wrong when I say something.”

Regardless of what transpired over the summer and the fact that he didn’t receive a warm welcome from Panathinaikos fans, Hezonja wants to wear the team’s jersey again one day.

“For sure,” he answered on the matter. “At some point. For sure. What are we talking about.. that’s the easy answer.”
