Per the press release: “Dinos Mitoglou, following a sprain trauma that took place during the second half of the game played in Kazan yesterday, reported the fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his left foot, which will be treated through a osteosynthesis surgery procedure.”

Mitoglou, 25, underwent medical examination following the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 10 game at Kazan, Russia. He has been sidelined indefinitely.

The former Wake Forest standout was off to a solid start to his first season at Milan. He registered 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.4 blocks per EuroLeague game, and 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.3 blocks per LBA Serie A game at the domestic level.

The Greek forward was coming off four EuroLeague campaigns at Panathinaikos OPAP, before opting to join Ettore Messina’s team during the offseason. At 17, he had turned pro playing for Aris and moved to the NCAA averaging 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest over three seasons at the Demon Deacons.

Mitoglou joined Malcolm Delaney on the injury list. The experienced guard has been sidelined with a strain on the hamstring of his left thigh since late October.

Olimpia Milano will stay in Russia to take on Zenit Saint Petersburg Friday, after falling to 8-2 and in a three-way tie on top of the EuroLeague standings with ACB powerhouses, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
