Following Konstantinos Mitoglou, AX Armani Exchange Milan adds another key player, Shavon Shields, to the injury list, the team announced Saturday.

Per Olimpia Milano: “During the fourth period of the game played last Thursday against Real Madrid, Shavon Shields reported a fracture of the right radius with capsuloligamentous involvement. Further specialist evaluations will be needed to determine prognosis and therapeutic strategy. However, the recovery times for a return to the activity are expected to be long.”

Shields, 27, was hurt late in Thursday’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 16 game versus Real Madrid. He put up a game-high 18 points with 7/12 field goals in the losing effort. Remaining the top contributor for Olimpia Milano with 12.6 points, four rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per EuroLeague contest, his absence will likely take its toll on the team.

Besides the American-Danish swingman, Troy Daniels picked up a thigh injury in the game opposite Madrid. He was limited to 6:50 with three points to his name.

Mitoglou, 25, was placed on the injury list for the team coached by Ettore Messina one month ago. He since underwent a left foot injury and is expected to be re-evaluated within the next days, determining a timetable on his return to action.

The Italian powerhouse is currently tied in fourth place with UNICS Kazan, Zenit St Petersburg, and CSKA Moscow at 10-6. Coming up in Round 17, a trip to Lithuania to meet Zalgiris Kaunas Wednesday.

Domestically, the team based in Milan leads Italy’s LBA Serie A with a perfect 11-0 record. Up next, Allianz Trieste Sunday.
