A few days prior to the Greek derby in the EuroLeague, Panathinaikos confirmed two COVID-19 cases in the team

Panathinaikos confirmed a positive COVID-19 case in the team ahead of the game against Olympiacos for Round 17 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague (December 23, 20:00 CET).

The case was spotted after the regular molecular testing of the team, while further testing was conducted Tuesday and the results are expected to turn in soon.

Per the team’s announcement:

Panathinaikos OPAP Athens announces that a member of our team has tested positive for COVID-19, after the regular test that was performed. Panathinaikos OPAP follows all the prescribed case management health protocols. A new molecular test was performed on all members of our team and the results are expected”

UPDATE: Panathinaikos later announced that a second member of the team tested positive for coronavirus.
