After the suspension of five out of the nine Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 20 games, the Round 21 fixture pitting Olympiacos at home opposite Zenit Saint Petersburg was suspended as well, Euroleague Basketball announced Monday.

Per the press release: “The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 21 game Olympiacos Piraeus vs. Zenit St Petersburg, originally scheduled to be played on Thursday, January 13, has been suspended. Zenit requested the suspension after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.

Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates. Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with the affected teams the best options to reschedule the games. Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms.”

The bottom end of the double-game week already features five games suspended due to COVID-19 cases, including Zenit hosting LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. All nine Round 19 games, five Round 18 games, and one Round 17 game are suspended as well.

In addition, the 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season Round 9 game between Cedevita Olimpija and Promitheas was suspended, as announced.

Olimpija requested the suspension due to local legislation imposing restrictive measures on the team after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves the team without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.
