Ognzen Jaramaz with 16 points and Vladimir Lucic with 12 did their part for FC Bayern Munich on the way to an easy 74-65 win over Zalgiris Kaunas which remains last in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings.

It was an ugly game in which both teams clearly were out of synch, specially Zalgiris which played a EuroLeague game after a 25-days hiatus due to COVID-related game suspensions.

“It was not an easy period, we are playing with a huge chip on our shoulder”, admitted Bayern coach Andrea Trinchieri about his team which had lost three straight EuroLeague games before getting this win. “I am very happy for my players. We played a good game especially in defense, the only thing we didn’t do well was rebound and that cost us a little. It was a win that we needed and we wanted, maybe too much”.

After a balanced first half, Bayern managed to get an 11-point lead (55-44) in the third quarter with Andreas Obst scoring 11 points in just seven minutes of action. The hosts entered the last period leading by seven (61-54).

“We had our chance, we missed some open shots, some details and definitely we were not good enough”, said Zalgiris coach Jure Zdovc.

Bayern kept things in check, led by 14 (72-58) and Zalgiris couldn’t get into striking distance. Augustine Rubit also scored 11 points for the winning side and had also eight rebounds, while both Jaramaz and Obst registered EuroLeague career-highs.

“It was a great way to bounce back after a couple of EuroLeague defeats”, admitted Jaramaz after the game.

Josh Nebo scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Zalgiris, while the guard duo of Tai Webster and Janis Strelnieks scored 10 points each.

Bayern has an 8-10 record after this result, while Zalgiris dropped to 3-14.
