Due to extreme weather conditions in Athens, the upcoming game between Panathinaikos and Zalgiris has been postponed

EuroLeague Basketball announced Tuesday that the upcoming game of Panathinaikos OPAP Athens vs. Zalgiris Kaunas has been postponed, due to a snowstorm that is currently taking place in Athens.

Panathinaikos would host Zalgiris on Wednesday for their rescheduled Round 18 meeting in Athens. However, due to the extreme weather conditions, the game will have to be assigned to a new date. It should be noted that this suspension doesn’t count for the limit of three as imposed by EuroLeague’s COVID-19 policies.

Adding up to that, Olympiacos is scheduled to face Crvena Zvezda at home this upcoming Thursday at home (Round 23, 20:00 CET), though there’s a chance that the game could also be postponed.

Per EuroLeague’s announcement:

The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 18 between Panathinaikos OPAP Athens and Zalgiris Kaunas that was rescheduled to be played on Wednesday, January 26, has been suspended due the urgent measures undertaken by the Greek government following the bad weather conditions that the Greek capital has experienced since last Monday.

Euroleague Basketball will evaluate with the affected teams the best possible options to reschedule the game based on available dates and TV rightsholders’ production availability. Further information will be released as warranted in the coming days.
