Olympiacos survived a tough game against Baskonia to snap back from a four-game skid

Olympiacos Piraeus put an end to a four-game draught to bounce back with a 72-62 victory against Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz on the road in their Round 25 meeting in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. The Greek side swept the regular-season series against Neven Spahija’s squad and improved to a 13-9 record in the standings.

Tyler Dorsey paced the efforts of Georgios Bartzokas’ squad with 17 points, while Sasha Vezenkov followed with 15 points.

Kostas Papanikolaou was perfect from the three-point line and tapped 12 points for Olympiacos, while Thomas Walkup also picked up 12 points.

After trailing 50-44 by the end of the third quarter, Baskonia‘s Wade Baldwin and Rokas Giedratis hit back-to-back threes to pace the hosts to a 9-0 run, before Olympiacos reacted to restore its lead and managed to remain in control with a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Alec Peters posted a season-high with 18 points to go along with 7 rebounds to lead all scorers of the game, while Giedraitis had 12 points for Baskonia and Steven Enoch followed with 9. Baskonia suffered its fifth consecutive defeat and sinks further down the standings with a 7-16 record.
