Real Madrid is planning to extend the contracts of veteran stars Sergio Llull and Rudy Fernandez for another year and the goal of the club is that both players will continue with a “significant” salary drop, according to Marca.

Both Llull and Rudy have been inconsistent in the 2021-22 season so far with 8.1 and 6.4 points respectively but recently had notable performances in wins. Llull had a season-high-tying 20 points in a victory over Olimpia Milano last week (10/3) while Fernandez scored a season-best 17 points Thursday (17/3) to help Real beat ASVEL Villeurbanne.

Llull, 34, has been with Real since 2007 and is the captain and longest-standing player on the team. He has led the Spanish powerhouse to several titles while winning multiple individual trophies, including EuroLeague MVP in 2017.

This is the eighth straight season for Fernandez with the Real jersey. The soon-to-be 37-year-old swingman was a key member in the Blancos’ re-establishment as a EuroLeague powerhouse and return to the continental throne in 2015 and 2018.
