Real Madrid forward Gabriel Deck has tested positive for COVID-19, the Spanish club announced Tuesday. Deck is expected to miss Games 1 and 2 of the EuroLeague playoffs series against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, a big blow for Pablo Laso’s squad.

The 27-year-old Argentinian player has returned to Madrid in early 2022, following his run with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2021-22, and has posted an average of 10.3 points, 4.8 rebounds across 25 minutes on the court in nine EuroLeague contests this season.

Game 1 of the playoffs series between Real Madrid and Maccabi tips off Wednesday (April 20, 21:00 CET) in Madrid. Deck could be cleared to return for Game 3 (April 26, 21:05 CET), following the updated Return To Play protocol, as agreed upon by EuroLeague clubs in early January.
