Barcelona guard Nick Calathes expressed his disappointment with the overall outcome of the EuroLeague Final Four that saw his championship-aspiring team settling  just for the third place after a win over Olympiacos Piraeus.

“Obviously, it’s disappointing,” Calathes told Eurohoops. “We came here to win. We believe that we were the best team. And we didn’t play our best basketball in our last game to give us a chance to make it to the Final

“That’s the thing about sports. You have one bad game and you finish your season,” Calathes added. In the match vs. Olympiacos, he became the Final Four all-time assists leader, passing former teammate and EuroLeague legend Dimitris Diamantidis.

Right now, the goal for Calathes and Barcelona is making the repeat in the Spanish ACB League. Afterward, the decorated playmaker is going to join the Greek national team for the 2022 EuroBasket.

“I’m excited,” Calathes said on the national team “I’m always excited to put on the flag. And I believe that obviously we’re going to have a great chance. For me, Im focusing right now in winning the Spanish league and then I’ll be ready for the national team. I’m excited to play with these guys.
