A 27-15 run in the third quarter let Malaga take a 14-point advantage (63-49),  as the Spaniards beat Bamberg 76-71 in the opening game of Group D.

Mindaugas Kuzminskas was the top scorer for the winners with 18 points, while Nikos Zisis had 16 points for the losing squad.

It was a close contest in the first quarter (18-18), but the Germans managed to take a six-point advantage in the second quarter (28-34). However, Malaga immediately fought back and earned a two-point lead at the end of the first half (36-34).

In the second half, the Spaniards were unstoppable. They outscored their opponents 27-15 and were leading by 14 points (63-49) after 30 minutes in the game, playing good basketball both defensively and offensively. In the last quarter, Bamberg tried to make a big come-back and cut the deficit to seven points (71-64, 73-66), two minutes before the end of the game, but Malaga stood tall and claimed the victory having 17 offensive rebounds in total in the game.
