Olympiacos has shortlisted Alec Peters and is nearing a deal with the former player of the Phoenix Suns.

After finally returning to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four and ranking fourth in the season-ending tournament held in Belgrade, and winning both Greece’s Stoiximan Basket League and the domestic cup, the Reds have been linked to Johnathan Motley, Nikola Milutinov, and Joel Bolomboy. Peters was added to the mix and is considered the main target, as first reported by Greek outlet Sport FM.

Peters, 27, has spent the past two seasons at Bitci Baskonia. He previously displayed his talents in Russia as a member of CSKA and in Turkey for Anadolu Efes, after opting to extend his career overseas following 20 games played in the 2017-18 NBA Regular Season attached to the Suns. Apart from Olympiacos, he was also rumored to attract the interest of Fenerbahce Beko but the Turkish giant reuniting with Nemanja Bjelica seems to strengthen the bid of Olympiacos.

The 2021-22 campaign was hampered by injuries. He was held to 12 EuroLeague appearances, including eight starts. Putting up 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest painted the picture of his efforts when available. Baskonia ended up with a 12-16 record and fell a couple of wins short of clinching a berth in the Playoffs.

The former Valparaiso standout added 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game in Spain’s Liga Endesa. The team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz settled for the sixth seed in the bracket of the Playoffs, behind a 20-14 W-L tally in the Regular Season. Edging out Valencia’s home-court advantage in the best-of-three series of the Quarterfinals led to Real Madrid and a three-game sweep in the Semifinals.
