AS Monaco coach Sasa Obradovic extended his contract with the team for three more seasons, the club announced.

“Ambitions for the new season are even higher than in the previous season,” Obradovic said in an interview for Monaco. “We must not hide it. Winning the French championship is important for the club, for the municipality of Monaco and for the fans. And we have to establish ourselves higher in the EuroLeague landscape. Next year but also in the future and the seasons that will follow.”

Obradovic replaced Zvezdan Mitrovic and took over Monaco in December for his second stint with the club after 2019-2020. He led EuroLeague newcomer Monaco to the playoffs and his team fell one win away from the Final Four after falling 2-3 to Olympiacos Piraeus in the quarterfinals.

In France, Monaco lost to ASVEL Villeurbanne 2-3 in the Finals after taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

Monaco is building a quite strong roster for the upcoming season with the expected arrivals of guards Elie Okobo and Jordan Loyd plus the likely stay of superstar Mike James.
