By Eurohoops Team/ info@eurohoops.net

The future home of FC Bayern Munich, the SAP Garden presented the “SAP Garden Experience Center” Tuesday. Former NBA and current Bayern player, Paul Zipser was impressed.

Per the press release: “Munich’s Olympic Park is a hive of activity these days in view of the great sporting event of the European Championships 2022 – now the Arena is getting another small but very cool place for fun: The “SAP Garden Experience Center” was presented to numerous media representatives on Tuesday – the chic showroom with a wide range of information, screens and some info about the emerging multifunctional sports arena in the Olympic Park will also be available to the public starting September 7. All that is required is a brief (and free) online registration via www.sapgarden.com.

Special FCBB experience always on Tuesdays and Thursdays

In the immediate vicinity of the SAP Garden construction site, representatives of developer Red Bull together with FC Bayern Basketball as one of the future hall tenants and name giver SAP provided first insights into the arena. The temporary exhibition area, covering around 160 square meters, allows visitors to experience the future venue of Red Bull Munich’s professional ice hockey team as well as the FCBB.

The visitors were able to get their own impression of the sports arena, in which the Bayern basketball team will play at least 20 games in the future, by taking a tour of the gigantic construction site.

Paul Zipser: “This hall is a statement”

“The Audi Dome is of course firmly part of my career and we’ve had some very awesome experiences there,” Zipser said. “But seeing this, of course I’m excited to see what will be possible in the SAP Garden with our fans. This hall is a statement; what the partners have put together here is extremely nice. (…) It’s going to be another setting, another size, another look, I’m just looking forward to it.” The former NBA pro continued, “I’ve seen a lot of modern arenas in my career. But what’s coming up will be something completely new. The SAP Garden is exactly what Munich and the fans need. They carry us through the games, especially when things aren’t going so well.”

Lars Lamadé, Head of Global Sponsorships SAP, said in a brief roundtable discussion: “It is our goal to offer fans a unique stadium experience from arrival to departure and to bring them even closer to the teams.”

In addition to fans and partners, organizers of gaming and other sporting events (tennis, freestyle, boxing, etc.) we will in future be able to get an idea of the new arena and the three additional training ice surfaces in advance at the new Experience Center. For the first time, visualization drafts of the interior are now also being published, using ice hockey or basketball games and gaming events as examples.

In addition, every fan can find his or her individual perspective of the court/ice in the 3D hall plan and knows his or her viewing angle as soon as he or she buys the ticket. And: With virtual reality 360° glasses, guests are taken on a wild ride across the site with freestyle ace Adrian Guggemos.

At least 20 Bayern home games per season

From spring 2024, the stadium experience in the SAP Garden will naturally focus on the game: in the future, it will be underlined by an innovative video cube with a total area of almost 200 square meters. An initial model of the video cube is on display to scale for visitors in the Experience Center. Those who want to experience a real arena feeling even before the opening of the SAP Garden can sit back on the original seats in the specially installed cinema and enjoy exclusive films about the creation of the construction project. In the “Pose with the Pros” area, there is a selfie spot for ice hockey and basketball fans with their favorite players.

The Experience Center will also be operated by FC Bayern Basketball in the future: On Tuesdays and Thursdays, FCBB contact persons will be available to answer questions from fans, partners and all other interested parties.
